Our classes are open to all levels. If you have any concerns,
please, feel free to voice these with your instructor so that they
can provide you with safe and comfortable adaptations which will allow
you to enjoy Yoga while still receiving its benefits.
Hatha is the most common type of yoga known in the
United States and is the physical limb of yoga. It can encompass many
styles - Restorative, Vinyasa, Iyengar, etc. In our studio it usually
signifies a class in which the poses are held for a longer period
than Vinyasa, thus allowing the participant to explore and adjust
the pose to find the most comfortable and beneficial stretch.
Vinyasa is a style of yoga in which the poses are
linked together in a flowing form. The rhythm of the breathing initiates
the change from one pose to the next and thus allows the practitioner
in this style to become more internally focused on their own body
& breath. It tends to be rather active but can be slowed down to whatever
rhythm is appropriate for each individual. And the best part is that
it is always closed with a delightful period of rest which usually
lasts for 10 minutes.
Restorative is a relaxing style of yoga in which
the participant is invited to gently explore poses which encourage
rest & a chance to reconnect with one's body & breath. It is a wonderful
practice for those who are new to yoga, allowing one to truly relax,
turn inward and to become focused on the responses and sensations
of their body.
